THE GREAT DIVIDE - Canada to Mexico 2768 miles
WHO: Pauline & Phil Sanderson / John Purcell / Jill Dawes aka Northern Nutters.
We are a bunch of friends from Kendal in Cumbria who love biking and all have a slight masochistic instinct.
WHAT: The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (GDMBR) is Adventure Cycling's premier off-pavement cycling route, crisscrossing the Continental Divide north to south. This route is defined by the word "remote." Its remoteness equates with spectacular terrain and scenery. The entire route is basically dirt-road and mountain-pass riding every day. In total, it has over 200,000 feet of elevation gain which is Everest x 5!
SELFISH WHY: well to be honest we all want to get exhausted, be in pain, get scared of bear sightings or going for a pee on a rattle snake while having an amazing view from a bike! What's not to like?
WORTHWHILE WHY: In Your Hands Charity needs to raise enough money to buy 400 more uniforms for the 700 children attending the 6 schools we are supporting.
One uniform (including winter clothing) costs £15
